The national currency has settled in at about 1.4 million rials to the US dollar over the last month, although as the accompanying chart shows
the rial has been uniquely erratic in this current Persian year compared with prior years. The highest daily price ever was set January 5, when the dollar sold for 1,482,500 rials. The dollar has been priced above 1 million rials every single day but a block of eight in the six months since August 27. For the month of October, the price ranged from 1,167,000 down to 1,070,000, according to the website Bonbast. That is relatively consistent. But for the current year 1404, the price has been anything but consistent, with the price of a dollar falling as low as 800,000 rials April 25. So, the price has swung almost 700,000 rials in the current Persian year, which is a huge range In the first 10 months of the Persian year, through January 21,
the currency was priced above 1 million rials to the dollar on 151 days or 51%. The rial first topped 1 million on the fourth day of thecurrent Persian year. The pricehas now been above 1 millionevery single day since September17.
